Vol. 456 No. 2

Written Answers. - Proposed Barna (Galway) By-Pass.

Robert Molloy

Ceist:

56 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment when a decision will be made on the application made by Galway County Council under the 1995 specific grants scheme for the carrying out of a land use transportation study for the proposed Barna by-pass; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13641/95]

Galway County Council submitted thirty applications for funding in 1995 under the EU co-financed scheme of grants for specific improvement works on non-national roads, at an estimated total cost of £6.160 million. I allocated £2.156 million to the council earlier this year for nineteen of these schemes but the application for the study referred to was not among these.

It is open to the council to consider whether to apply again for funding for the study when applications for 1996 are invited later this year.
