Vol. 456 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cattle Disease.

Willie O'Dea

Ceist:

141 Mr. O'Dea asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason agreement has not been finalised with local land owners in Askeaton, County Limerick, for an on-farm investigation of the causes of a disease which has caused a number of cattle deaths in the area; and his views on whether it is justifiable that such an agreement has not been finalised seven months after he gave a public commitment to conduct such an investigation. [13704/95]

Following extended negotiations with one of the farmers who has had significant numbers of cattle deaths and illnesses, arrangements are now under way for the early commencement of an on-farm veterinary investigation. The other aspects of the comprehensive investigation are continuing.
