Vol. 456 No. 3

Written Answers. - Army Medical Standards.

Mary O'Rourke

Ceist:

150 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Defence if the case of a serving member of the Defence Forces (details supplied) in County Westmeath who was recently reclassified from grade C to grade E by the medical board will be reviewed. [13889/95]

The individual in question was classified below Army medical standards by a medical board on the 4 July 1995. He appealed the decision of the board. The appeal was fully considered by the Deputy Director, Army Medical Corps who upheld the earlier decision. In accordance with the terms of Defence Force Regulations, A12, paragraph 74(b), his commanding officer, if so requested by the individual concerned, may make an application to the Adjutant-General to be retained in service notwithstanding his medical classification and he has been advised accordingly.
