Limerick East): I am not aware of any undue delays in updating disabled person's maintenance allowance, DPMA, payment books. Payment of disabled person's maintenance allowance is made either by a book of vouchers or cheque issued weekly from the relevant health board. In situations where books of vouchers are used and amendments fall to be made before the re-issue of such books health boards withdraw the books and make payments by cheque until the new book of vouchers is issued. A disabled person's maintenance allowance recipient would rarely have to visit the community welfare officer, CWO when a payment is being updated and would be unlikely, even in such cases, to have to visit a CWO more than once.
If the Deputy is aware of any cases where delays are being experienced I will have these investigated with the relevant health board.
