Vol. 456 No. 5

Written Answers. - Accessibility of Public Transport.

Mary Wallace

Ceist:

178 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the contributions, if any, he or officials from his Department have made to developing European Union regulations and recommendations on the accessibility of public transport. [14218/95]

In recent years, my Department has participated in a positive spirit in the consideration of proposals for European Union legislation concerning measures to increase accessibility to transport for people with disabilities. There are no initiatives of this kind within my Department's remit under discussion at the Transport Council at present. My Department will make a positive and substantive input to any future proposals which the Commission may present to the Council.
