53 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the waiting period for a new client to have a consultation with a solicitor in each free legal aid centre; the timescale for the matter to be addressed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15681/95]
The waiting periods as of September 1995 for an appointment with solicitors in each of the Legal Aid Board's law centres are set out in a tabular statement which I propose also to have circulated in the Official Report.
The time taken for cases to be addressed is dependent on a number of factors: the nature and complexity of the case; the necessity for court proceedings; and the waiting period for the hearing of the case by the court concerned.
