Vol. 458 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Expenditure.

Rory O'Hanlon

Ceist:

96 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the amount of reduction in public spending in his Department as a result of the Government decision announced by the Minister for Finance on 8 June 1995; the number of new posts established since that date in his Department and in agencies under the aegis of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16813/95]

As the purpose of the Government decision of 8 June 1995 was to stabilise numbers in the public sector and to avoid an increase in expenditure rather than to effect actual savings, it is not possible to estimate the amount of reduction in spending requested by the Deputy.

The following new posts have been established: Teilefís na Gaeilge, 3; The Heritage Council, 3; The Irish Manuscripts Commission ½.
