62 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Finance if a panel has now been formed from the competition for meteorological officer held earlier in 1995; the number of people on the panel; the length of time the panel will last; and if applicants have the right to known their place on the panel. The Civil Service Commissioners held a competition in July 1995 to fill vacancies for meteorological officer notified to the Commissioners by the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications.
As stated in the reply given by the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications to a previous question on 19 October 1995, four candidates have been appointed as meteorological officer; a further three candidates are in the process of clearance and subject to standard procedures will be assigned as soon as possible. It is not the policy of the Civil Service Commissioners to indicate the placings of candidates as a result of such competitions.
