Vol. 458 No. 6

Written Answers. - Jamestown (Dublin) Pedestrian Area.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

54 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the body which has charge of the pedestrian area near the entrance to Jamestown Court Shopping Complex, Dublin 8 at the Grand Canal bridge. [17462/95]

I assume that the Deputy refers to the entrance from Jamestown Road to the Jamestown Court flats near the third lock on the Grand Canal. The Waterways Service has no responsibility for the entrance areas from Jamestown Road to Jamestown Court, or the open space area at the rear of the houses on Jamestown Road. This open space consists of a six metre wide concrete path and an adjoining grassed area. There is a gate entrance on Tyrconnell Road just past Blackhorse Bridge to the open space area, and a separate adjoining entrance to canal property. The Waterways Service has responsibility only for canal property. I am arranging to let the Deputy have a sketch showing the extent of the canal property in the area.
