Vol. 459 No. 1

Written Answers. - Residential Property Tax.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

75 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance if he will review residential property tax to introduce greater equity and eliminate the disparity that exists between Dublin and the rest of the country in view of the fact that 22,296 taxpayers paid £8,950,688 in residential property tax in the Dublin area out of a total £11,980,399 tax paid by 34,206 tax payers for the April 1994 valuation date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17973/95]

The programme, A Government of Renewal, indicated that the future of residential property tax would be considered in the context of the review of local government financing being undertaken by my colleague, Deputy Brendan Howlin, Minister for the Environment.

I will evaluate all aspects of RPT in the light of the findings of this review when completed.
