Vol. 459 No. 4
44 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the progress, if any, that has been made in relation to the commitment that 40 per cent of the membership of State boards shall be female. [18227/95]
The situation in relation to women's representation on State boards is that, on 1 November 1995, 24.5 per cent of the total serving membership were women and 30.9 per cent of direct Government or ministerial nominees were women compared to 15 per cent and 17 per cent respectively in 1992. I monitor the progress being made in appointing women to State boards and while there is a steady increase in the number of women on State boards I am aware of the need for this progress to continue.
