Vol. 459 No. 4

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Allowances.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

53 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health if he will ensure that persons (details supplied) in Dublin 10 who, at the request of the Eastern Health Board, took two children into their care when three other children from the same family were fostered, are granted the new relatives allowances in view of his reply to parliamentary question No. 75 on 21 November 1995. [18331/95]

As I indicated in reply to a question on 21 November, the Child Care (Placement of Children with Relatives) Regulations 1995, provide for the payment of allowances to relatives who have children placed with them by health boards in accordance with the regulations.

I have asked the Eastern Health Board to examine whether the persons named by the Deputy are entitled to an allowance under the regulations and to inform him direct of the outcome at an early date.
