Written Answers. - Reviews of Semi-State Bodies.

Noel Treacy

Ceist:

97 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the number of reviews that have been carried out to date on all semi-State utilities since they were established; the years in which these reviews were carried out; if public reports were provided as a result of these reviews; if not, to whom internal reports were made available; the period of time it took to produce these reviews/reports; the name of the professional bodies/organisations who carried out these reviews and produced these reports; the cost of each individual review and report; the cost to his Department of the payment of these reviews and reports; the cost to any semi-State organisation of the production of these reviews and reports; if there are any reviews or reports currently on hand or recently produced in any of these semi-State utilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18395/95]

Since the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications was established on 22 January, 1993, five reviews of State bodies under the aegis of the Department have been carried out, which were commissioned by the Minister or the Department. Details of these reviews are in the attached schedules. Reviews currently on hand are also shown as well as reviews in progress or carried out at the request of the Minister or the Department. The outcome of one review was published as indicated in the schedule.

I have no function in relation to any reviews undertaken or carried out by the State bodies themselves.
