Ceist:

131 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education the enrolment numbers required in primary schools for the retention and appointment of teachers; and if absentee levels are taken into account when sanctioning new appointments. [18789/95]

The enrolments required for the appointment and retention of assistant teachers in ordinary primary schools in the current school year are as outlined in the following table.

In calculating the valid enrolment of a school, pupils absent, other than those absent for more than 15 consecutive school days, may be included.
