Ceist:11 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Education if she will consider retaining the additional £50 capitation grant for transition year students from September 1996; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18726/95]
Written Answers. - Transition Year Grant.
Provision exists for the payment of a transition year grant, at the rate of £50 per pupil, up to the end of 1995-96 school-year.
The question of continuing the payment of this grant will be considered in the context of the resources available for 1996 as provided in the Estimates for the Public Service.
I intend to make the maximum possible support available for the transition year programme and I assure the Deputy that I will keep the matter under review.
