51 Mr. Cullen asked the Minister for Justice the special measures, if any, she intends to introduce to prevent the larceny of computer chips in view of the increase in this type of crime; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16527/95]
I am informed by the Garda authorities that a number of measures have been taken with regard to the policing and patrolling of those premises which are involved in the manufacturing, distribution and transportation of computer components. Crime prevention officers have visited the premises and offered advice as to physical security measures and operational procedures. In addition, ongoing liaison is maintained with the management of the premises concerned.
As regards the larceny of computer components which have taken place this year, I am informed that investigations are continuing.
