Ceist:

61 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance the total number of personnel working in his Office and the Office of the Minister(s) of State at his Department; the number of support staff and back-up personnel in each office; their titles and responsibilities; their salaries and other associated costs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Finance (Mr. Quinn)

The total numbers of personnel, including contract staff working in my Offices, and those of the Ministers of State at my Department, and the annual costs of salaries of such personnel are set out in the tables below. Salary costs do not include overtime costs which are incurred from time to time in each office.

The responsibilities of Civil Service staff in each office are to assist each Minister in the discharge of his/her departmental duties. The responsibilities of advisers are to provide specialist advice to each Minister in relation to the Minister's brief. The responsibilities of personal assistants and personal secretaries are to assist the Minister in all matters relating to constituency affairs.

In relation to associated costs, it is not possible to ascertain the amount of other associated costs, such as overheads.
