Vol. 460 No. 5

Written Answers. - Galway School Funding.

Noel Treacy

Ceist:

48 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in sanctioning funding for facilities at a school (details supplied) in County Galway; the date on which this sanction will be given; the amount of funding to be allocated; the facility to be provided; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1608/96]

An application for funding for the school in question has recently been received in my Department.

This application is currently under examination.

As soon as this evaluation is complete my Department will be in contact with County Galway vocational education committee.

As this application is at the early stages of evaluation, it is not possible, in the circumstances to indicate the exact facilities or indeed the amount of funding to be provided.

[1609/96]

A report outlining additional facilities required at the school in question has been submitted to my Department and has been evaluated. An official from my Department will visit the school to make a more detailed assessment of the needs of the school.

As this application is at the early stages of evaluation, it is not possible, in the circumstances to indicate the exact facilities or indeed the amount of funding, to be provided.
