Vol. 460 No. 7

Written Answers - National Heritage Council Grants.

Michael P. Kitt

Ceist:

70 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the associations and organisations, if any, that have received grants from the National Heritage Council in each of the years 1994 and 1995; and the grants that have been sanctioned in 1996. [2091/96]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 8 of 26 October 1995, in which I outlined the position regarding projects which benefited from national lottery funding from the former non-statutory National Heritage Council in 1994 and 1995 (to 9 July 1995).

I also explained in that reply that the new Heritage Council, which I appointed on 10 July 1995 under the Heritage Act, 1995, is an autonomous statutory body whose functions include powers to provide assistance (including financial assistance) and advice to persons and bodies in matters relating to its functions. A detailed list of any grants approved or paid by the statutory Heritage Council in 1995 and 1996 will be published in its annual reports for those years.
