Ceist:62 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Justice the number and rate of convictions in respect of homicides for each of the years from 1985 to 1995. [2219/96]
Written Answers. - Homicide Convictions.
It would mislead to provide the figures that are readily available which, for example, show the number of murder convictions in a particular year set against the number of murder charges for that year. The reason for this is that murder charges in one year may result in murder convictions some years hence.
I will seek to establish for the Deputy the exact relationship between homicides of various trends and convictions associated with these homicides and I will supply these figures to him as soon as possible.
