I am informed by the Garda authorities that members of the Garda Síochána are currently deployed in relation to five former Taoisigh, the former Minister for Justice and the former President. The numbers and manner in which these members are deployed are Garda operational matters and it would be contrary to established practise to disclose the information sought by the Deputy having regard to security considerations.

Ceist:65 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Justice the total number of Gardaí assigned to the totality of Garda Stations in Cork city in each of the years from 1991 to 1995. [2244/96]
The number of gardaí assigned to the stations responsible for policing in Cork City for the years 1992 to 1995 are set out in the following table. It is not possible to provide the Deputy with figures for 1991, due to the time constraints involved, as these statistics are not stored on computer. It is not possible, either, in the time available to indicate how many gardaí are involved in prevention or detection of crime as against other duties. However, as soon as this information is to hand I will forward it to the Deputy.
