52 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for the Environment when he will publish the promised amendments to the 1993 Environment Regulations with a view to improving and streamlining access to environmental information; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3322/96]
I intend shortly to finalise amending regulations on access to information on the environment. As previously indicated, the main amendment will be the reduction of the period for response to requests to one month, as a general rule. I will continue to keep access arrangements under review, particularly in the light of forthcoming freedom of information legislation.
