Vol. 461 No. 7

Written Answers. - State Car Use.

Brendan Kenneally

Ceist:

262 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Social Welfare the total number of days he has used the State car; the number of days which he has not used this facility and used his own private car in view of the commitment given by him when first appointed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3846/96]

I presume the Deputy is referring to a radio interview I gave shortly after my appointment when he refers to a commitment. In that interview I indicated I would use the official transport available to me as and when I deemed it appropriate.

I do not keep a detailed record of the days on which I have used the official car. However, I estimate that I have used the official car on approximately half of the days during 1995.
