Written Answers. - White Paper on Crime.
The problem of crime is a complex one requiring a multifaceted approach from a range of Government Departments and other agencies and the involvement of the community at large. There is, first, a need for an informed public debate on the issue and I have asked my Department to take such steps as are necessary to facilitate this debate by preparing and publishing a discussion paper on crime on the general lines of the paper already published on prison policy which invited people to make submissions.
