Vol. 461 No. 8

Written Answers. - Canary Wharf Bombing.

Liz O'Donnell

Ceist:

65 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Justice if she has received a report from the Garda authorities in relation to the possibility that the bomb which was detonated in Canary Wharf was manufactured in the Republic; the person or persons, if any, who have been questioned in this regard; the status and extent of the investigation into this matter; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3905/96]

It is not the practice for Ministers for Justice to report to the House on the progress of specific police investigations. I do not propose to depart from that practice. I can say that the Garda Síochána is in touch with the London Metropolitan Police in regard to the Canary Wharf bombing and that any Garda assistance sought as part of the investigation into the bombing will, of course, be provided.
