Adjournment Debate Matters.

Carlow-Kilkenny): I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy S. Brennan — the action, if any, the Minister for Enterprise and Employment proposes to take in the light of the threat to 30 jobs at Irish Helicopters; (2) Deputy Gregory — the absence of any psychological or counselling service for three primary schools in Dublin 10 and the consequent educational disadvantage for many of the children concerned; (3) Deputy Lawlor — the need to address the question of the availability of post-primary school places in the Lucan area of County Dublin; (4) Deputy T. Ahearn — the need to designate as disadvantaged the Presentation Convent primary school, Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary; (5) Deputy Lynch — the need to standardise hourly wage rates for home helps in all health board areas; (6) Deputy Shortall — the need to extend the preferential terms for the Telecom Phonewatch Medi System to pensioners in urban areas; (7) Deputy Byrne — the need for compensation for the crews of fishing trawlers which have been decommissioned; (8) Deputy Ó Cuív — the need to expedite a decision on the proposal made by the local community in relation to the barracks at Maam, County Galway; (9) Deputy B. Smith — the need to alleviate the difficulties facing pig-processing units in obtaining adequate pig supplies and the imminent loss of jobs at McCarren and Company in Cavan; (10) Deputy Geoghegan-Quinn — the action the Minister for Health intends to take to alleviate the crisis in accident and emergency departments in hospitals following reports that 11 patients over 70 years of age were kept overnight on trolleys at University College Hospital, Galway, on 14 February 1996; (11) Deputy Ellis — the need to upgrade and refurbish St. Joseph's national school, Killenummery, Dromahair, County Leitrim; (12) Deputy S. Ryan — the number of abscondments from Oberstown House, Lusk, County Dublin, over the past year and the proposals, if any, there are for improving security for the centre in view of the concerns of the local residents.

The matters raised by Deputies Gregory, T. Ahearn, Ó Cuív and S. Brennan have been selected for discussion.
