Ceist:24 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the proposals, if any, he has to ensure proper levels of staffing in Teagasc by providing sufficient funding to that organisation. [4251/96]
Written Answers. - Teagasc Staff Funding.
In 1996, Teagasc will receive a grant-in-aid of £45.882 million from my Department, representing an increase of 2.7 per cent on 1995. It is expected that the organisation will receive a further £25 million approximately from EU and other sources.
Teagasc currently employs almost 1,500 staff whose deployment is a matter for the organisation itself. The staffing needs of Teagasc are being considered, inter alia, in the context of overall Government policy in relation to recruitment in the public sector.
