Vol. 462 No. 4

Written Answers. - Civil Service Vacancies.

Mary O'Rourke

Ceist:

58 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Finance when the next public advertisement will appear for vacancies in the Civil Service; and the public newspapers in which these vacancies will be advertised. [4781/96]

Advertisements for clerical, executive and administrative poisitions are placed as and when necessary. Open competitions for executive officer and administrative officer were advertised late in 1995 and are currently in progress. It is not possible at this stage to say when further competitions for these and other general service grades, such as clerical assistant, may be held. Professional and technical positions are also advertised as the need arises. Advertisements are placed by the Civil Service Commission and normally appear in The Irish Times, Irish Independent and The Cork Examiner on a Thurdsay or Friday. The question of any additional advertising is decided upon by the Civil Service Commission having regard to the positions being filled.
