Vol. 462 No. 5

Written Answers. - Music Company for IFSC.

Liam Lawlor

Ceist:

74 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Finance the proposals, if any, he will bring forward to attract a major international music publishing-recording-entertainment company to the International Financial Services Centre, IFSC, Dublin, in view of the massive development and growth of the sector; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4832/96]

Under section 39b of the Finance Act, 1980 the legislation governing the International Financial Services Centre IFSC, the Minister for Finance may issue certificates specifying financial services, the profits arising from which qualify for a 10 per cent rate of corporation tax. International music publishing, recording or entertainment would not qualify for the corporation tax rate of 10 per cent in the IFSC because none of these activities is a financial service or a service ancillary to a financial service.
