Vol. 462 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Waterford Gaelscoil.

Brendan Kenneally

Ceist:

83 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in affording permanent recognition for a Gaelscoil (details supplied) in County Waterford in view of the fact that the school was founded over ten years ago and that other smaller schools with a lesser enrolment have been approved since; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5218/96]

The granting of permanent recognition of the Gaelscoil referred to by the Deputy was deferred in 1992, mainly because the temporary accommodation in use by the school was not considered satisfactory. I understand that this problem has since been rectified.

A further application for permanent recognition was received in mid-February and is being processed in my Department. A decision in the matter will be conveyed to school management as soon as possible.
