Vol. 462 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dublin Parish Hall.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

97 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education the role, if any, she has regarding the usage and management of Christ the King parish hall, Dublin 7; whether the hall is the responsibility of the parish committee or the board of management of the national school in view of the fact that the hall has been built separately from the national school on grounds leased to the Department of Education, with 100 per cent finance raised in a local parish fund and more recently completely refurbished by a FÁS grant allocated to a parish hall management committee. [5310/96]

I do not have a role in relation to the usage and management of the hall in question.

The hall is diocesan property, but it forms part of the vested school area. Accordingly, the usage and management of the hall is a matter for the boards of management of the schools. Officials of my Department met with members of the parish hall committee in June last year and suggested that any difficulties should be resolved between the diocesan authorities, the boards of management and the hall committee.
