The following table details the information requested by the Deputy. This information is in respect of the 1994-95 school year, the latest year for which pupil statistics are available.
I wish to point out to the Deputy that since that time the position will have improved. I allocated an additional 55 remedial posts to the primary sector in September 1995. That brought the total number of remedial teaching posts at primary level to 1,188. In addition, enrolments at primary level are projected to have fallen by approximately 750 in September 1995.
