Vol. 462 No. 8

Written Answers. - Tourettes Syndrome.

Máirín Quill

Ceist:

108 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Health the measures, if any, that have been put in place to improve facilities for young people suffering from tourettes syndrome in each health board area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5769/96]

Limerick East): Tourette syndrome is one of a range of psychiatric conditions which is treated through the child and adolescent psychiatric services. Services are predominantly delivered on an out-patient basis through child and family guidance centres. There has been much development in the child psychiatric services in recent years with the appointment of a child psychiatrist and supporting team in each health board area. I am satisfied that a full range of services is available to those suffering from this condition.
