329 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade if he or the Minister(s) of State at his Department have directed any of the staff employed in the Departmental constituency office to work directly in the local constituency clinic; if so, if this practice is in the public interest; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have not directed any of the staff employed in my own office to work directly in the local constituency clinic.

The personal secretary to the Minister of State at my Department works from his constituency office in Cork, as the most practical and cost effective arrangement of meeting the secretarial needs of both the Minister of State and his constituents.
