David Andrews

Ceist:

354 Mr. Andrews asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the agri-tourism moneys due since November 1995, will be paid to the various regions; the amount to be paid to each region; the purpose for which it is required; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6110/96]

There is no money paid by my Department directly to the regional tourism companies under the agri-tourism scheme.

The announcement in November 1995, related to applications that had been approved by regional tourism organisations. Grants due to approved applicants are only paid following satisfactory completion of the work and certification that the works comply with appropriate national standards. The grants are paid directly to the beneficiaries. To date seven applicants have been paid £211,000 in respect of completed works.

The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the following table.
