Ceist:366 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry whether all County Leitrim will be included in his application to the EU for inclusion in the third tier of disadvantage; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5083/96]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 365 and 366 together. The criteria by which areas will be selected for reclassification as extremely disadvantaged are being examined at present, and I expect a decision on specific criteria in the near future. Following on from this, the areas which meet the criteria will be selected and transmitted to the EU Commission.
Since the specific areas to be proposed have not yet been selected, it is not possible to say what areas of Sligo and Leitrim, if any, will be included in the final submission.
