423 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Defence the number of persons employed in the constituency office and the private office by him and the Minister(s) of State at his Department; the rank of each person; their salaries; the functions of the constituency office and the private office; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Defence (Mr. Barrett)

There are three contract staff and four Civil Service staff attached to my ministerial Offices, as follows:—

Contract Staff.

Programme Manager	49,002 per annum
Special Adviser	26,118 per annum
Personal Secretary	15,600 per annum

The contract staff salary costs are shared jointly by Defence and Marine Votes reflecting my dual ministerial role.

Civil Service Staff.

Clerical Officer	14,640 per annum
Clerical Assistant	12,020 per annum

There are three Civil Service staff attached to the office of the Minister of State as follows:—
