There are eight staff engaged in the Minister of State's office. Apart from the Minister of State's private secretary, higher executive officer and two clerical assistant typists, who are civil servants, the following are employed on a non-established contract basis: one special adviser, one personal secretary, one personal assistant and two civilian drivers. The total salary costs for these staff is £158,818.02.
I do not have a constituency office in the Department of the Marine, all related matters are dealt with by my office in the Department of Defence. The Minister of State's constituency office is staffed by his personal secretary, his personal assistant and two clerical assistant typists.
The private office of the Minister of State deals with those matters which involve the exercise of departmental responsibilities, as opposed to constituency related work.
