Vol. 463 No. 3

Written Answers. - State Cars.

Dermot Ahern

Ceist:

53 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Taoiseach in respect of his Department and each semi-state body and Government-constituted board under the aegis of his Department but with the exception of members of the Government, the persons who are provided with cars at State expense; the offices held by such persons; the number of people employed to drive such cars; the type of use permitted for such cars; and the total cost in each case. [6470/96]

In respect of the Department of the Taoiseach cars are provided by the State to the Taoiseach and to the Government Chief Whip. No cars are provided to any body under the aegis of the Department. As the costs relating to the car provided to the Government Chief Whip are borne on the Vote of the Department of Justice details of the costs arising thereon are being provided by the Minister for Justice.
