Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the number of persons employed in the constituency office and the private office by him and the Minister(s) of State at his Department; the rank of each person; their salaries; the functions of the constituency office and the private office; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Finance (Mr. Quinn)

The number of persons employed in my private and constituency offices and those of the Ministers of State at my Department, their grades and salaries are listed below.

The functions of the private offices are to provide clerical, administrative and specialist support to the Minister and Ministers of State in their respective roles as Ministers, and in the case of my office, in my role as a member of the Government.

The functions of the constituency offices are to provide assistance to the Minister and Ministers of State in all matters relating to constituency affairs.
