Limerick-East): In the first instance, the current development at Ashtown Grove is a matter for the Eastern Health Board.
The Eastern Health Board has informed me that the recent completion and opening of the community unit for the elderly at the Navan Road and the completion of a development of private housing at the Ashtown Grove entrance has necessitated in a new pedestrian access to Ashtown Grove which is as convenient as possible to the local amenities for the residents of the complex.
The access provided in the front wall opening on to the old Navan Road is the closest possible point adjacent to local shops, post office, and other amenities, and is convenient both for the ambulant residents of Ashgrove Welfare Home, who wish to visit the shops and for pedestrian visitors wishing to visit the complex.
