Ceist:

229 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice the level of remuneration of the non-executive directors of boards, companies or agencies under the aegis of her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6513/96]

The levels of remuneration of the non-executive directors of boards or similar bodies under the aegis of my Department are as follows:

Garda Síochána Complaints Board

Chairperson

£4,000 per annum.

Members of the Board

£2,500 per annum; a Board member who is a Garda Assistant Commissioner has a nil remuneration.

Garda Síochána Complaints Appeal Board

Members of the Board

£150 per sitting.

Interim Board of the Land Registry and Registry of Deeds

Chairperson

£6,000 per annum.

Members of the Board

£4,000 per annum; one Board member who is a serving Civil Servant has a nil remuneration.

In relation to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal, the chairperson of the tribunal is paid £1,079 per annum and £162 per day for acting as chairperson for hearings of the tribunal. The six other members of the tribunal are paid £38 per case heard and £140 per day for appeal hearings.
I should point out that there are no semi-State companies, agencies or similar entities under the aegis of my Department.
