43 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, he has to amend the law to enable the Director of Public Prosecutions to give reasons for any delay in prosecutions; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5750/96]

There are no proposals to provide in law for the giving of reasons by the Director of Public Prosecutions for any delays in prosecutions.
