129 Mr. Briscoe asked the Minister for Justice the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 who was sentenced to four years imprisonment for drug pushing has been released after serving three months; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7365/96]
The person referred to by the Deputy was, on 23 June 1995 at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, convicted of the importation of a controlled drug and sentenced to a term of four years and six months imprisonment on 23 October 1995. As part of the judgment this sentence was to be reviewed by the court on 29 March 1996.
This review took place and the court approved the release on bail of the person and ordered a further review to take place on 18 October 1996.
