126 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason that a REP scheme payment has not been made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; when this payment will be made; the amount of money to be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8058/96]
The person concerned applied for his second year payment under the REP scheme which amounts to approximately £2,900. However, under revised monitoring and control procedures implemented by my Department recently, compliance checks are required to ensure that farmers have completed the specific works outlined during the first year of the plan before second year payments can be made. This will lead to some delays but I am seeking to ensure that these are minimised.
