84 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Education the action, if any, she proposes to take to provide a contract of service, proper working conditions and holidays for Youthreach workers; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7960/96]
In line with commitments in the Programme for Competitiveness and Work, my Department commissioned a review on the conditions of staff in the Youthreach programme. The report from the consultants has just been received and makes recommendations on the duties, staffing structure, qualifications profile and status of employment of staff on Youthreach, having regard to the needs of the client group, the objectives of the programme and the provision in comparable services. My Department is now entering discussions on the matter with the relevant staff interests.
