Vol. 464 No. 3

Written Answers. - Examination Appeal.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

88 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding an appeal to the Examinations Branch of St. Laurence's Community College, Drogheda, County Louth on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8062/96]

The current position regarding the candidate referred to by the Deputy is that a letter was received in my Department from the candidate's school on 20 March 1996, appealing against the decision not to allow special examination arrangements in the case of the candidate.

Arrangements have been made to have the matter considered by the special arrangements appeals committee. This committee consists of five persons, consisting of two officers of my Department and three members from outside my Department, including the chairperson. The Department's personnel will not have been involved in making the decision on the original application. The committee's decision will be communicated to the candidate's school in the first week of May.
