Vol. 464 No. 4

Written Answers. - Leader Funding.

Eric J. Byrne

Ceist:

119 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry in respect of Leader funding for projects (details supplied) in County Donegal, the amount of funding provided; whether the relevant project has been completed in each case; whether funding has been recovered and-or deployed to other projects in cases where approved projects were not started or completed; whether overruns in expenditure have occurred on any of these projects; if so, the implications of this for the completion of the projects; and whether any of these projects are of the type specifically excluded in Departmental guidelines as referred to in the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General in December 1994. [8384/96]

No Leader funds were provided for any of the four projects mentioned.

Eric J. Byrne

Ceist:

120 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the amount of funding through Leader and the International Fund for Ireland which has been allocated to County Donegal since 1986. [8385/96]

The sum of £1.874 million was paid to County Donegal under the Leader I programme which operated in the period 1991-94.

The sum of £3.822 million has been allocated to County Donegal under Leader II which operates in the period 1994-99.

In addition, the Leader group which operates in all Gaeltacht areas, allocates part of its funding to the Gaeltacht areas of the county. As regards the International Fund for Ireland the Deputy will be aware that this is an independent organisation and I would refer him to its annual reports where full details of all grants paid by it are published.
