29 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the progress, if any, he has made in respect of the comprehensive survey of public sector employment in order to update his Department's 1993 report on the survey of equal opportunities in the public sector. [8937/96]

Initial contacts have been made with major Departments on a follow up survey to my Department's 1993 report on equal opportunities in the public sector.

Consideration is currently under way on the content of the proposed survey and the extension of any assessment of equal opportunities in the public sector to the public service employments not previously covered is being taken up with the relevant parent Departments.
