Vol. 465 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Water Supply.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

97 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment if he has satisfied himself that the work, which was approved by his Department, on the north city arterial watermain to Fairview and Griffith Avenue, Dublin which was to improve water supplies and pressure for domestic users in a large area of north city Dublin has been successful; if his attention has been drawn to the huge concern of householders of totally inadequate water supply particularly in Dublin 3, 5 and 9; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6550/96]

I am advised that the north city arterial watermain, which was commissioned in 1995 to improve the distribution system over a wide area of north Dublin city, is operating successfully. A number of projects for improving the Dublin water supply, as identified in the Dublin regional water supply strategic study, are under way and further measures will be considered in the light of the recommendations of the study.
